Healthy Big Mac In A Bowl – 21 Day Fix Approved

I have never been a big mac fan but I knew this was something my husband and boys would devour. The trouble I had been with pickles they are loaded with salt and no way follow my clean eating plan. After some researching I found a simple DIY recipe pickling cucumbers that stay on the 21 Day Fix plan. 21 Day Fix Pickle recipe If you don’t want to take the time to make your own i found these on amazon hhmpickles


I bet you’re wondering about the thousand island dressing?? Well Bolthouse Farms makes a delicious thousand island that follows plan and that is what I used! My entire family LOVED this recipe and it will now be on rotation in our house! Enjoy!!!


Ingredients – Makes 4 Bowls 

1.5 Lb lean ground turkey or beef

8 Cups of romaine lettuce

Bolthouse Farms Thousand Island Dressing (1-2 tbsp for each bowl)

4 no salt pickles spears chopped (1 large cucumber if making your own)

1/2 cup red onion diced

1 cup tomatoes chopped

1 cup shredded cheese of choice (divided into each bowl)

Salt and Pepper to taste

I also added a little onion and garlic powder to meat as i browned it ( I just sprinkled a little of each)


Putting It Together

Brown ground meat until cooked through (add optional garlic and onion powder while cooking)

Chop romaine lettuce into bowls

Chop tomatoes, pickles ,and red onions then set aside

Pour 1-2 Tbsp of dressing into each bowl of lettuce

Mix the lettuce and dressing until evenly coated

Add ground meat and chopped veggies to lettuce and dressing mix until evenly coated

Salt and pepper to taste

Top each bowl with 1/4 cup shredded cheese



21 Day Fix Containers – Per Bowl 

2 1/4 Green 1 Red 1 Blue 1 Orange

**Note I counted homemade pickles as a green being vinegar is a free item on the fix**

    My husband just started the 21DF eating plan with me, and tonight he told me he was craving a burger- then this genius recipe showed up on my FB feed. He thought it was great, and it definitely satisfied his burger craving. I’m not a red meat eater so next time I’ll have to give it a go with ground turkey. It’s quick and SO easy!

    What kind of dressing did you use? I can’t find thous and island in bolthouse farms

    Tried this tonight, was a hit with both me and my husband. Made my own pickles through your link and made my own Thousand Island Dressing, because I too found out Bolthouse no longer offers Thousand Island. Found a good one here:
